Bowling was introduced as a Special Olympics sport in 1975. Bowling is mainly a Spring and Summer sport and training is usually from September to June.

Details for Delaware County Program

***Delaware County hosts three (3) separate bowling trainings (all held on Sunday). Training takes place at Sproul Lanes (Springfield), Wynnewood Lanes (Ardmore), and Bowlero (Boothwyn). All athletes are welcome to participate in multiple (or just one). Please see details below on each training location.***

Sunday Training - Sproul Lanes (Springfield)

SOPA Season: Fall (Jul – Oct) + Winter competition

Head Coach: Kathy Zoretich

What to Expect: Athletes bowl 3 games per training. It is very important to arrive on time.

Competition Dates: Eastern Bowling Sectional @ Allentown & Indoor Winter Games.

Equipment: Bowling balls are provided at the alley, but feel free to bring your own. We do have a ramp for those needing assistance. Please check with the coach beforehand to ensure the ramp is brought.

Uniform Requirements: We will provide athletes with collared shirts for competition.

Sunday Training - Wynnewood Lanes (Ardmore)

SOPA Season: Fall (Jul – Oct) + Winter competition

Competition Dates: Historically, the Wynnewood training has only attended the Delco Invitational @ Sproul Lanes in November, but we are hoping to get out to other competitions soon!

**IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS** 

ALL athletes must have a current medical (on Special Olympics PA medical form) that runs through the end of the season. If the athlete medical is not up-to-date, athletes WILL NOT be able to participate. Unfortunately, there are no exceptions to this rule since it poses a safety risk to the entire program. ALL athletes must attend at least 8 trainings and participate in qualifiers to be eligible to compete in State Games (Summer Games/Fall Festival/Indoor Winter Games).

ALL athletes can participate in multiple sports during the same season, but must declare a primary sport for State Games (Summer Games/Fall Festival/Indoor Winter Games).
